Inspired by an excellent breakfast meeting at Hawksmoor, I had a stroke of genius on a suitable venue.
There is a pub near Bank / Moorgate in whose restaurant we used to spend several lost afternoons, famed for it's British grub. I have made us a booking for 20 people, Thursday 04 December, sitting down at 19:30.
The pub is 'The Old Doctor Butler's Head', 2 Masons Avenue, EC2V 5BT
Their website is:

On the website you can see a sample of the menu by clicking on the Food button and opening the restaurant PDF.
They tell me they will be doing a Christmas menu and have promised to send me a copy, which I will circulate to everyone.
I / we will need to pay them a deposit, which is not too unreasonable a request given the date and the time of year. I used to get away with it at the Tai Pan as they knew me and we were repeat bookers.
I think it should tick all the boxes. I can't believe the Christmas menu will be astronomical, certainly their day-to-day menu is reasonable.
