In fact it's doing 'f' all.
Opens, but no page comes up, tried the online help bits which all rely on getting to the settings page to change proxy settings etc

Settings page will not open

Have run malwarebytes - nothing found

Anyone got an idea whats going on?

Quick and easy way is find your chrome user data in in your profile and delete it. If you log into chrome so your bookmarks and passwords sync between devices this is no big deal. When you log back in everything will sync and work again. Not so good if you don't log in since you will loose everything.

I am assuming you have done the usual and properly restarted the machine?

There is also a chrome problem finder program. It might be worth downloading that and running it. On a phone at no so can't really help with links.

It's something like C drive then users / your profile name / appdata / local / Google / chrome and then user data. Appdata is a hidden folder so you will need to go to view / folders and tick view hidden files if it isn't already. There might be other folders on the way as I am doing it from memory.

Mine's done the same as of yesterday.

Uninstalled and reinstalled and it's still the same. I suspect Windows have done an update that Chrome doesn't like.

Same here - 3 different computers now do not work using chrome as of yesterday

They don't want people on 'Chrome' anymore.....they want you all to move to 'Edge'.

Just grab Firefox :thumb2

Uninstalling won't get rid of the user data. I am in Windows and it's fully up to date with chrome working so it isn't that.

Can't quite narrow down userdata file, did follow through to appdata / local / Google / but the trail went cold with no Chrome folder - poss because I ran the cleanup file you linked to earlier.

In view of the fact others are having problems, it would seem to be perhaps froma rece3nt update of either chrome or windows.

I imagine waiting a few days before trying to load it again will have given the Terry F-wit of a developer a chance to undo the 'good work' he/she got paid for last week.

Thanks for your help Marki, I'll keep the thread open so we may benefit from the experience of others!!

Should definately be there unless your still using xp https://www.chromium.org/user-experience/user-data-directory but its only slightly different. If you have started chrome and there still isn't anything there then uninstall and reinstall as the main program is broken.

As I said earlier it isn't a general problem as I have the latest version and fully updated windows and it is working ok along with over 700 users at work where it is working ok. Google has put out bad updates in the past but as y0u can imagine I become aware of it very quickly when the phone goes mental.
