Guys,

I was reading a review in Motorcycle Sport & Leisure mag which said the time taken to change the clutch on 2006-onwards models was about half that on the earlier models, which was a surprise to me.

What's the difference ?

John

The nuts and bolts aint quite so corroded.

Clutch

What it said in the magazine was that a clutch for a 2004 /2005 costs about £900 to replace, whereas a 2006 on is half that price.

There is no difference (unless you count about 5 minutes worth of time saving on the rear subframe cover).

Typical magazine journalists who write for a living and not having a clue what they're writing about.
Most of them scour the internet and post a load of meaningless tripe of misinformation that's also been posted by others who've "heard" about things.
Which all ends being posted on the internet ad nauseum as the usual circle of believed wisdom of truth as none of the feckers have actually done the job to point out the folly of what's been stated.

There's one simple question that you always need to ask concerning mechanical information. "Have you done the actual job you're giving advice about, or are you just repeating something you've been told or read on the internet". :thumb

Bike Mag recently said the new WC clutch sits at the front & can be changed in under 1 hou. Wheres, the older bikes had to be split needing 5 hours (or something). I got bored because my WC is upstairs and hasnt got a clutch.

If you need to clutch at something when sat on your WC, I'd recommend you eat more fibre.
