As per title, the next version of City Nav Europe, 2012.40, has now been released.

Any idea then why the lifetime installer is telling me my maps are up to date on 2012.30 however the garmin site says new map available, then invites me to download the lifetime updater (which Ive already got ) and having done that the lifetime updater then tells me my maps are up to date ???????
Maybe the 'lifers' will get the update a little later?

no ive sussed it now, had to uninstall lifetime updater and then reinstall, now downloading new map version

It now shows the new main road into Weymouth that's been there about 10 months.
But as I understand it, you can't download those maps to the 2610.
I think my maps are from 2007.
They still work 99% of the time mind you.

2009 was the last year that non NT maps were available from Garmin. 2610 runs non NT mapping I'm afraid.
Not sure if Openstreetmap mapping would work on your StreetPilot, might be worth a try

the full mapsource version and a cracked copy AKA bang it on a SD card to use in any modern garmin, was released on gpsunderground same day
i got mine up and running after 20 mins

Ask yourself this question: At the end of the day who paid for your copy
£50 really isn't much to pay for European wide mapping updated 4 times a year, is it?
If you really want free mapping why not use Openstreetmap which will work on your Garmin.
