Just a heads up that Garmin have identified an issue with the latest version (2013.40) of City Nav Europe and appear to have made it not available to users who have yet to update their mapping to this version.

Dear Bumpkin,

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

The latest City Navigator Europe NT 2013.40 mapping update has been
temporarily disabled due to a potential issue in the cartography.

Our engineers are currently working on a solution to this and are acting
upon this as highest priority.

As such, no map updates for the 2013.40 version will be available until
we are completely satisfied with the new map update.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know.
Alternatively you can search for a solution here: http://www.garmin.co.uk/support

It also seems that they taken down 2013.30 as well. I know some users experienced some issues with this, maybe the problem is in both versions :nenau

If you have already updated your mapping then, if my myGarmin account is to be believed, you'll still have the latest version available. If you haven't then you won't see it under the mapping data list for your device.

Haven't found any issues with it. Yet. They didn't elaborate on what the problem is?

No, sorry. Contacted them asking why the Lifetime sub on my Nuvi was stalled at 2013.20 where I'd updated my Zumo 660 a few days ago and that was the reply I got.

I did email them back asking for more detail and if/when they reply I'll post here.

Just got a reply from Garmin, very non-specific:

At this time the 2013.40 mapping is not available
for down due to potential cartography error. Once the mapping available
again you will be able to download the maps with your lifetime
subscription. The mapping should be back on the server 1st may. I am
afraid that we have no further information available except this is
potential cartography error.

Would be intrigued to know what the problem is but they seem to be hard at work trying to fix it. Just don't follow your Zumo off a cliff if it tells you to do so  Business as usual then.

Just received

Valued Customer,

Garmin has recently been made aware of an issue involving map data present on its Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs) that may cause the PNDs with certain map versions to indicate the direction of travel incorrectly on a very low percentage of road segments only in the Netherlands. Garmin has determined that certain roadway segments within the Netherlands have incorrect one way assignments, resulting in travel guidance against the flow of traffic for short portions of certain calculated routes. This issue affects primarily roundabouts or non-controlled access roads.
Products Affected

The issue affects the City Navigator Europe NT and NTU database version 2013.40. This database version was made available for download on 27 February 2013 and the issue therefore affects any Garmin PND to which the user has downloaded this database version since that date. The same affected map update is also available on an SD card as an accessory.
Resolution

As indicated in the operator manuals, always evaluate conditions such as road signs and traffic flow before following the GPS recommendations/guidance. Customers with City Navigator Europe NT and NTU 2013.40 database should be aware of the potential routing issues documented above and always ensure the vehicle is operated safely according to traffic and route requirements.

Garmin is currently working on a database update that will correct this issue and expects to have the update available in late April 2013.

Got the same.

Bit relieved there then.. got a lot of routes plotted through France and Spain.

Great - I just shelled out for my lifetime updates a few days ago in readiness for a trip starting 1st May :blast

Already got 2012.30 on the unit, so that was a complete waste of cash (in the short term at least) :(

If its only a database update, can you not just delete the SQL file...
It will probably only effect the "lane assist" crap.
If you don't know which way you should be travelling, you should stay at home:rob
