We have finally got the SP2610 in Australia with a new version (v5) of City Navigator.
CNA v5 is supposed to have approx 120 additional rural towns.
SP2610 with CNA is AU$1950

If you purchased CNA or a SPIII with bundled CNA after 1 March 04 then the upgrade is free.

If purchased before then I believe the upgrade price will be approx AU$130 (to be confirmed)

I wonder how many people outside Boonoo Boonoo know how to pronounce it?

The locals don't know how to pronounce it - there aren't any locals!!!

What's more, not only were there no houses when I last passed through the place, we found, having taken the long dirt road in a hire car, that the Falls were dry too!

:D

Greg

PS I know how to pronounce Wulla-ma-loo, but how do you pronouce Boonoo Boonoo? Is it Bunna-bun-noo?

Boonoo Boonoo is Bunna Bu noo.

At least the locals I know, say it that way.

Just outside the state park are a couple of properties, they're the locals that I know.

Yeah, the waterfalls don't work unless it rains, but the water holes are nice and cool.

These GPS thingo's seem to be the go, to a point. Maybe I'll think about one one day, no rush though as plenty of others are buying the new BMW one at $500.00 when they purchase a new adventure 1150 that is.

If they can sell it for a whopping $1,500.00 off, even accounting for the fact they are selling a new bike, there must be a fairly large margin in these GPS things!

I'll just travel along with them when out in the sticks and see how good they are. The fella who runs Side Track magazine, seems to think they are the ants pants.

Have you had any trouble with the mounts breaking on heavily corrugated roads, especially the type where you have to get up to about 100 - 120 Kliks to ride over the holes?

Mick.

I'm using the Touratech mount for my 2610 - I think that it's more robust that others on offer.

The Touratech mount features a rubber mounted secondary platform to which the GPS is firmly clipped. The rubber mounts take out the worst of the shock loading. No problems so far.

The usefulness of a GPS is, to some extent, down the the completeness of the mapping data. Whilst every single sidestreet in the UK is mapped, I don't thing that the same is true of Oz.

Mind you, the cities are pretty well mapped - a GPS would be of benefit to some of the Greek taxi-drivers in Melbourne who need to look up the Referdex for every trip - however short!

That is the BMW Navigator I (Garmin SPIII) that they are selling with selected models at AU$500.
The current price for a Garmin SPIII is AU$1430

The Garmin SP2610 has superseeded it and is selling for AU$1820

Heard a rumour that the BMW Navigator II (SP2610) with the additional button/battery pack will be out (in Australia) in May at approx AU$3000
