Oh brilliant....just bought a Zumo 550, which is great but now find I can't load City Navigator NT on my Mac.

Well yes I suppose I can buy a copy of Windows and run it....but why the feck should i have to fork out another £50 or so.

So why can't Garmin state the requirements on the box?

Depending on what version of mapping you have it can still run on a mac but you may need to do a conversion on a windows pc first of all and then once you've coverted the files and put that on the mac you can use it normally.

Have a look at the links below as you will need to use these.

Question: How do I use the MapConverter program?

Answer:
Answer: Garmin provides a program called MapConverter and my be download from the Garmin website at http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3897

Please follow the steps below installation and conversion:

After clicking on download select open to begin the installation. The MapConverter install program will then start running automatically, and prompt through the installation process.
Launch MapConverter if it does not start automatically. It will find all installed map products for conversion
Select the map you wish to convert by placing a check in the box next to the map. (When MapConverter first launches, ALL check boxes will be checked. If you don’t want ALL of your maps converted, click in each box to un-check that particular map, preventing it from going through the conversion).
Select a location, or destination where you want the converted maps to go when finished. If you do not know the path, click the Browse button in the lower right corner of the dialog box, and choose the destination location from the hierarchical menu that opens.
Click the Start button you will be prompted to select to use or not to use file compression. Without file compression the resulting file format will be .gmapi. With file compression turned on the resulting file format will be .tgz.
Copy the finished converted file to your Mac.
Double click on the .tgz file to decompress the compressed file, if compression format was selected, end result will be a .gmapi file.
Run MapManager to install the gmapi file to your Mac HD in a location where Garmin’s Mac compatible software read and use the map files.

Hope this helps a bit.:thumb

didn't garmin promise that 09 onwards mapping would be capable of being installed directly on macs, or did i imagine it?

And it's worth the hassle. The Mac planning software is very very good. Sadly, no ability to draw routes in different colours (yet) but, hopefully, that will be sorted in the next update.
