Oil trap

Are you suggesting Gulp, that the salesman was being er economical with the truth? Well I never. In other manufactures dealerships I can believe but never in a mighty BMW franchise. Whatever next.
and will continue to improve.I love it, forget about the poncey must have brand, its when the KTM forums kick off we should start worrying.

Just had new clutch rod and software update, defo easier to engage neutral so far, same advice give it some wellyand will continue to improve.

Stop go stop go traffic, oh and what happens if you actually want to push the fecking bag of shit (and being what it is that's very likely!) ? Or are you suggesting just pull the clutch in and push it ?
Full loaded with the back wheel on the ground how do you roll back onto the main stand ?
Loads of reasons you need neutral if you think about it.![]()

It's handy for giving the clutch thrust bearing a break at junctions etc.

Neutral is a basic selection in every gearbox that's why.

Exactly.
And your wrist and because it's safer etc, etc...
But perhaps this is the 'new bike' mentality - it doesn't matter because it's under warranty and / or I don't care because I'll have bought another before it'll become a problem![]()

What a load of bollocks, it's thrust-bearing, it's job is to thrust![]()
Well it had to happen.....the Ducati Forum are joking about the 47 pages on this topic on this forum.
Seems we have made a meal of the clutch drag some of us have which BMW are sorting out.
Seems also that they have conveniently ignored the fact that this is a better bike in every other way (than the clutch drag that is) than the Multistrada.

Just had clutch push rod replaced today and told to ride "briskly" (sorry officer I was just obeying orders))to get the excess oil on the clutch plates to dissipate. This however could take up to 500 miles (according to the BMW tech sheet).
Gear engagement feels different to what it was and haven't had a really noisy one yet.
So 60 brisk miles done, 440 to go.
Also service guy said that he had not heard anything about soft rear pads, and put it down to binding brake callipers.
Salesman had not heard any thing about clunking gear selection on a minority of bikes (mod was a complete surprise to him), despite service guy telling me (previously) that the demo suffers with it along with a number of customers bikes! No communication there then.

Mine was done yesterday , same story run for 500 miles etc ," finding "neutral now is easy. Gear change is better , going from 3rd to 4,5,6 no problem. Clutch seems to be lighter.
Had a 800GS for 2 days , now the gear change on this bike is perfect . Wonder who makes the gear box. Considering that the engine is allegedly assembled in China is a good unit. Maybe they should let the Chinese build the WC![]()

Has the clunk into first gear gone away?
Has the clunk into first gear gone away?
No change ( jumping forward is the same ) unfortunately . I shall do some mileage over the W/E . We shall see...
I really would like to meet up with somebody who's bike does not have this issue and compare the 2 bikes.
