Clacks , Crunches, or cant get Neutral

I must be one of the few lucky ones. :aidan My LC hasnt got a clunky gearbox, it isnt under-powered nor is it overweight. Happy.

Really. All depends what you compare it with......... Believe me, BMW don't make lightweight bikes, and never have.

So the S1000RR is what exactly?

The GS is also lighter than several of its competitors, the TEx, Crossdresser thingy and I think the Stelvio. It's only marginally heaver than an S10, KTM1190 and the Multi.

So I'd say BM have made a bike at about the right weight.

As for power, again it's less than some more than others.

Its a fuckin bantam weight with a punch like tyson :D oh and a slick gear change too

sent from ??? hold on where the fuck am I ??????

Not a GS..... and compared to a like for like bike not the lightest. Or a race winner. :D

You made a general statement that BM don't , make a light bike, from what I've seen they do in each class. Not always the lightest but never the heaviest either.

Make bike too light and we all know what happens.

It's still got a clonky gearbox though - in fact the new 2013 1200 GS WC is slated for its agricultural gearbox as well as being overweight ;)

Fixed for you:D....................cos you're a mardy twat

The 12GS WC is not a lightweight at 238kg on the road

.

So they make medium weight bikes.

Like i said. They don't make light bikes. And never have. And not through lack of trying
Hence why the BMW image has, and still is associated with bearded old duffers wearing Hi-Vis.

I'll agree with some of that, what ever anyone says they do build bikes with a sense of purpose and some times that carries weight.

Not sure I agree with the beardy Hi Viz image any more, well unless you ride an 11xxGS or RT that is!!! :-))

What's a medium weight bike then?? Not an F800, 800GS, the new R9T or, what about the soon to be released S1000 naked????

169 kg (dry) - 192 bhp (crank) - quickshifter - Good for touring with a Ventura bag on the back. What's not to like?

PS They sometimes hit a false neutral between 4th and 5th.... Quite amusing when the needle whizzes round to 14,500 in the blink of an eye, with no parallel appreciable increase in forward motion.

That will be because you own one and don't want to be seen as the above. Welcome to the club fucko, you are seen as a beardy auld duffer like the rest of us, even worse, because you have a new bm you are more than likely perceived as a born again beardy auld duffer :D

Yep, I do own one (happy to say a faultless one too) and I have no problem being seen as an old duffer at all even though I'm only 45. I keep trying to grow the beard but the wife won't have it at all, not even for the thigh tickling !!!

I'm working on the beer gut but I draw a line at hi viz.

As for the born again bit..... Not me. May have taken the odd short term sabbatical but never really been without a bike since I was 16.

This just released for the 2014 RT.

Coming to a GS near you soon??

Gear Shift Assistant Pro for smooth yet swift gear changing.
The BMW Gear Shift Assistant Pro that is available as an option ex-works represents a world first for production motorcycle manufacture. It enables upshifts and downshifts to be made without operation of the clutch or throttle valve in the load and rev speed ranges that are of relevance for riding, resulting not just in even greater comfort but in added dynamism, too.

The Taiwanese have taken up writing Munich's press releases. That is globalisation and outsourcing taken one step too far.
