Clacks , Crunches, or cant get Neutral

No Clacks No Crunches and bugger me Herman remembered to put Nuetral in this one!

Hi chaps being the OP'er a couple of peeps have asked what happen to my issues were they ever fixed on my 2013 bike.

In a word NO.

I'm now on my second lc gs, so after two clutches n other mods at 7500 miles n six months of playing hide n seek with neutral and the most appalling gearchanges, they (Cannons) offered me a deal a new 2014 model for a grand, I have so much on my plate and also spoke with friends in the trade and they said the bike i was getting was worth more than cost to change so I went ahead, call me a mug but life's to short.

So since September I have had a new MY14 bike that is very different to ride. I even got a RoSPA gold on the new one with a copper riding two foot away from me (this would never have been possible on the previous bike) . No clacks no crunches on this one and neutral every time.

So far 2500 miles on the new one and no issues except a noticeably rougther idle than the previous one and a random annoying tick / click at Idle the other one didn't have. LOL

Is it always silent into 1st gear?

LOL.. as if, its noisier than my 1944 Matchless, probably the noisiest first gear selection of any bike I've owned mind you I've only owned 60 plus bikes LOL.

So the gear change is now good on the 20104 model but it still clonks into first?

How many different ways does he need to say it?!

It's still crap and has a fundamental design fault :thumb

You really do need to grow up don't you? If you have nothing intelligent to say just keep you mouth shut, it really is the best way you know.

ffs, 67 pages....................thank fuck my Hexhead gearbox is as smooth as a hookers silk knickers...........:augie

I have started a new 'feelgood' gearbox thread and the whiners have moved in already :D

There is no stopping those nattering nabobs of negativism.

It is a habit of old English Ladies and I doubt that it will change, it is too deeply ingrained into English culture - you can see it reflected in our Press, The Daily Mail being the prime example :D

Don't be silly English Culture that's some thing that's long gone since the People not reading the Mail decided without asking any of us to turn this once fine land in to a multicultural mess. Whoops did I say that out loud.

67 pages of moans no smoke without fire or Lucas electrics if yer as old as me LOL.

You really keep contradicting yourself don't you. You should practice what you preach.

It's just a post isn't it? Or is the issue we all need to have your opinion?

You are mischievous or are you just telling yourself you can make 2 plus 2 equal 4?

My GS got new clutch and push rod yesterday (3000 miles on ODO). I was told that it's not final fix, as BMW is still working on the fix, however they told me that my bike is no different now than 2014 bikes and it should shift better than before.
Putting bike on central stand and getting first gear while keeping clutch in does not make wheel spin constantly at 6mph. It will make one or 2 rotations and then stops.

Mines worse since the push rod although they didn't change the clutch!

Unbelievable that BMW cant MFG a driveline from day one that works perfectly on all bikes, new model or otherwise. Absolutely ridiculous.

I agree with you completely.

However, my 2013 is getting better and better as the miles pile on. I don't want to jinx myself, but with 6900 miles on it, it is pretty damn good now, and that is without any fixes other than lowering the master cylinder fluid level and putting on the miles.

A recommendation for those with gear change issues

If you are having problems with the gear change, an option could be to install Pivot Pegz. I fitted these on my bike from new, and for the first 1200 miles, I didn't have ONE bad gear change. On Sunday morning, I fitted the height adjustable BMW pegs, and then went out for a 150 mile ride. Although I didn't have any bad gear changes, the box wasn't as smooth, as I could feel more through the gear lever. I then put the PP's back on, and tested it again, and the smooth changes have returned.

Don't shoot me down for this, but the pivoting action of the pegs, makes you put more pressure on EVERY gear change automatically, which leads me to believe that more force is required on every change.
