Same here March 2013 and over 15,000 miles now - gearbox is slightly notchy and clonks into 1st, I can find neutral OK and is at least as good as any other of the previous 1200s that I have ridden - it is better in the respect that I haven't had a single false neutral in 15,000 miles whereas they were pretty easy to find in the earlier gearboxes when making rapid up changes.

I'm no engineer and the entire article might be guff, and may have no bearing on the WC engine but I thought it was an interesting read:

Interesting article - seems like the old BMW gearboxes were worse than what we have now - which makes me smile :D There are always compromises in engineering (I have to make them every day!) and because of that fact you cannot keep all the people happy all the time, there will always be a small minority that don't like what you make, but hey-ho that's the life of an Engineer. The LC box is not perfect and some people seem to have real issues but it is odd that they often still have them when the bike is swapped for a new one.

Good news at last!
I collect a new 2014 replacement bike next week.
Thanks to all of you (and there were loads of you) who sent me your info as to how you rejected yours or your experiences etc.

Also, I have referred to this site in my complaint to Bmw and it is interesting to note that they do know about this site and are Very aware of this particular thread!

Anyway, pics next week of the new one...gone for dark grey. Got a bonus alarm which is a bonus too!
Pidcock bmw have been fantastic to be honest, credit where it is due.

Thanks all!

Amazing. I can find neutral, the gears don't crunch - I can hear that whining noise from the tyres some of you mentioned, they are different I had Conti's on before but the whining doesn't bother me.

So far so good. Got a nav 5 put on it at the last minute and am amazed how bright it is over my old Nav 3!

Anyway, thanks to those of you who advised and assisted!

Can you please post a video of how good your bike is? Did you test the clunkiness with the bike cold and hot?

Congrats on the new bike!

bmw in their wisdom have gone back to the wet clutch as in the jap bikes and they now suffer from oil drag , been out few times on watercooled great quick set off from lights they nearly wheely when the clutch is in , oh and jap indicators , progress dont think so , flog it and get the last twin cam . sorry but i prefer the old set up not keen on new one other than that the new rt handles and turns better.
Not meaning to sound twaty just think they gone in th wrong direction.
