hi - i am tidying up my paralever and want to clean the alloy and gear box cases - anyone know of any good brush or spray on aluminium cleaner, including where to buy it from please

thanks..Ian

All speciaist cleaners are bollox, don't fall for it mate

There is no such thing as an Aluminium cleaner, how can there be? Bare Aluminium will cover in Aly oxide and there is no bare Aly on your bike so why even think about it?

Ask yourself this, what am I cleaning, Aluminium or just some paint covering some Aluminium? you got it, its just paint and thats all there is to it.

Use any detergent from fairy liquid to head and shoulders and forget all these shite rip off bike cleaners, they exist to relieve stupid people from the cash they have.

Thats a fact

???????????????????????

The last time I looked at my GS, there wasnt any paint on my engine, or gearbox, or bevel box, or paralever, or wheel hubs. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PAINT

there is some black paint on the engine mid cover and some rocker covers
but its basicaly bare alloy all over.....

Dont look now but i THINK HE HAS AN 1100/1150/1200:D

Try T-Euro. Its pretty good but does require a lot of work with a small stainless brush. Go online to find your nearest stockist

cleaning ally

hi thanks for the replies, my bike is a R100GS Paralever, the alloy is not painted,i want to clean the white oxidation from the areas that i usually miss when i was it. eg, back of gearbox, under cylinders etc.

thanks Ian

I just spray mine with Duck Oil... no more oxidation and a nice greasy finish :D

As Pastyman says. T Euro ally cleaner and then buff up with Solvol autosol.

There is a nack to using the ally cleaner but the end result is worth it. The crank cases on my curret project were cleaned with T Euro, Barrels, heads etc are vapour blasted and ultrasonically cleaned. Obviouslly the ally cleaner doesn't work on the black bits :D

Nooo It does make a difference.
MalHard ducks oil tends to be more solid,
Runner ducks oil is very thin and suitable for spraying.
Ruddy duck oil has a redish tinge.
crispy duck oil smells great but tends to fall off and rolls away.
Aylsbury duck oil is f... all use as I cant think ofanything daft to say about it..

....... good night:D:D

Peking duck - best suited to Chinese import bikes
Wood duck -not suitable for metal surfaces
Indian runner -OK but best on recent Royal Enfields
Muscovy duck - OK but best suited to Urals

:D

Don`t listen to these go on about oils ,they are quacks,, all you need is Elbow grease,,:D

scotch cloth soaked in a vineger/water mix get the worst off, then WD40 to protect it..
