a pesticide

malathion is the recommended pesticide to rid gooseberries of sawfly Derris was the traditional method but this is not readily available as it is deemed nasty and can cause fish kills if it gets in to watercourses I think.

SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE is readily available at most chemical suppliers and a 25 litre drum is a couple of pounds. This is basically 5 times more concentrated than household bleach. Brushed on to driveways and washed away without the laborious tedium of a power washer it will lift all that green staining, and is no more hostile to water treatment works once diluted than the stuff you put down the tiolet.

i think this is the same stuff dairy farmers use to wash down parlours with - don't know the concentration tho - cheap from a farm supplier

they sell it here in hardware stores - $ 30 for 5 litres :tosser :eek:

Used to use 'proper' pickling paste at work to clean up stainless after welding, it contains nitric acid, brush on wash off, but is not to be taken lightly ... even dilute it stains the skin yellow and takes ages to wear off also containment and disposal of the contaminated water is difficult at home ... not recommended :rob
