Clear perspex winglets for 1150GS

I saw a gent a couple of weeks ago at Slaidburn who has a lovely 1150GSA. It had lots of lovely toys on including "Tobinators" for the screen and clear perspex winglets on the fairing. He said the winglets came from Nippy Normans but I've emailed Norm and he tells me he's never made them for the 1150.

Got any ideas where they might have come from?

...and what do we think to these tobinators? do they really stop that bloody awful buffeting on the 1150?

Tobinators do work depending on how much you are prepared to experiment with the positioning, what your build is, what helmet you use, what kind of screen you have........... Oh and if you have a standard Adv screen, it will wobble like mad with Tobinators.

FWIW, in my opinion all you need to do to reduce buffeting is to get more air to pass below the screen to equalise the pressure (and that's what Tober's invention does).

As for winglets for an 1150, make your own for a couple of quid.

I believe ...

... that Rugged Roads do winglets for the 1150; and can confirm that although tobinators can help to dial-out buffeting they do put extra stress on the standard ADV screen, to the extent of causing stress cracking around the mounting points

My bike is a regular1150GS (not Adventure).

I like to look of those home made winglets Mike, the Rugged Roads ones look great but need tobinators and are bloody expensive!

Fine on a Tourer, but a GS

They look absolutely silly, spoiling the lines of the bike and I bet they don't make one iota of difference to weather protection in reality

Yeah. Just look at these. I see what you mean about them spoiling the lines.

Admittedly, they don't make a massive difference but then that would be asking too much of a couple of small pieces of perspex. What I do find is that they are sufficient to stop the flow of rain or road-spray that used to follow a line over the tank and then into my lap. It wasn't so much the water as the fact that the air-flow from the side of the headlamp, under the edge of the screen, directed the weather over the shoulders of the tank. Now it doesn't do so nearly as much.

Bollox to it...she's stayin as standard!

I might just drill some big holes in the screen to get the air flowing better. The buffetting is fookin awful. Shame cos otherwise, the bike is exactly right for me!
