A freind of mine has recently bought an 1150GS, but he's noticed it makeing an odd noise that has started to concern him a little.
When he starts it up the ABS (warning?) lights come on, and stay on until he sets off. As he sets off the ABS lights go out, but as they do, the bike makes a "click click/clack clack" noise. It only happens the first time he sets off after starting. Is this a normal noise? or a sign that somethings not right?
If it helps I think it's a year 2001 bike.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Its normal:thumb

Cheers guys :thumb2 Any idea what's actually makeing the noise/why it does it, just so I can give the guy a bit more feedback.

Solved?

Could it be the noise SWMBO makes as another escape attempt succeeds. Used to happen to me until she bought her own bike. Now her helmet tends to muffle the sound.

Only start to worry when it stops doing it.

By the way, he'll also notice it (probably) if he doesn't use he brakes for a while. So, you come off the motorway, stop at the roundabout and as you move off again there it goes again.

Thanks for your help guys :)

The sound is similar to running over an empty beer can.
That's almost exactly how he described it "it sounds just like you've run over 2 strips of metal"

Or to be more precise: The ABS-II will self-test after a complete halt, if more than seven minutes has passed since the last self test.
