clock change gone mad

I have an 08 F650GS Twin
I don't keep it on charge as it has been ridden at least once per month and it's never had a problem starting.

Started it up at 9am & noticed the clock read 4pm.
I shrugged it off but during the ride out, I wasn't sure if the petrol reading was correct either - I know they're economical but the values never seemed to change! By the time I got home, the clock said 7.30pm & a "SERVICE" message displayed on screen.

I purchased the bike last August from a BMW dealer & highly doubtful I've done 6k ( I will double-check this ).

What's happened?

Not read any posts about time changing (i take it you were out riding for about three and half hours?) That is quite easy to change back.

Re the service light - it may well be set to annual service / 12000 miles whichever is sooner. Have a look on your V5 (or in service history logbook) and if the bike is first registered around this time of year that may well have activated due to the time since last service as opposed to distance covered. I'm no oil expert but i believe engine oil degrades over time as well as distance so will not protect the engine as well. (As it happens Halfords are currently 20% off on 4 litre bike oil if you're doing it yourself)

Generally if the warning lights (in BMW speak. Often referred to as idiot lights on here) are yellow it's no biggie. Red, you want to start looking them up. I take it the yellow triangle comes on for a bit at start up then goes out?

And not that it's any of my business but if you're not riding that regularly it may well be worth investing in an Optimate - it'll save you having to replace the battery any earlier than necessary.

Check your battery terminations are clean and tight.

How old is the battery? On starting if the battery is weak the voltage may dip low enough to drop below what the engine management box needs thus confusing it.

Good advice to get an optimate and make sure its kept charged

I have an optimate. If there was a problem with it starting, of course, I would have charged it!

The cause has been discovered.
At Easter, I disconnected the battery to remove a heated vest lead. According to a friend with the same bike, this can cause the computer to "forget" things including the service intervals and the manual says more or less the same thing.
Clearly BMW think owners should leave everything to a costly dealer....
