Clock error on 2010 TC

For some reason the clock on my GS just won’t keep proper time, strange thing is it’s just the hours that are out, the minutes are fine.

Any ideas, battery was new 12 months ago but is a bit sluggish turning the bike over, it’s never failed to start though.

What do you think chaps?
 
It is usually voltage drop on start-up, but that normally resets the clock to 0.00.

Maybe get a CCA check on the battery, to rule that in/out.

Otherwise could the starter motor be 'tired', drawing too much current, or perhaps the decompressor system is not functioning?

Not sure about that, time has been set ok, then when I switch the bike in (but don’t start it) the time is out.
 
It could well be the start of the failure. Mine started with just the clock then other things on the dash then eventually the whole dash failed. There is a thread on this in the F650 section. I can’t post the link. Dohh!
 
Mine (2010 GSA) has been around 10 minutes slow for many years now - no matter how new/old the battery is.

Fek I hope not, I’ll keep an eye on it.
 
In the end it was a cheap and easy fix. Cost only a few quid as opposed to the dealers wanting nearly two grand for the full set of clocks. I have read of similar with the older 1200s

Sorted now, I rested the time 48 hours ago and must have done something different because it’s keeping perfect time now.

I don’t this I exited the setting procedure properly..muppet eh?

the user manual for a 2011 TC says if the date is wrong (battery off for a long time etc.) go see your dealer to get the date corrected.... but for time you can DIY, fighting the lunacy of a trip reset button and some left switchgear madness

so I thought OK, I'll use motoscan that'll be half the effort to 1) get the TPMS tyre temp display up, 2) put the clock in grown up 24hr units, and 3) put the time right as its 5 mins fast (date OK)

1 and 2 done in about 30 seconds and 25 mins later I'm sending log files to wlad to say WTF has the time adjustment feature been hidden ?????
got the GS911 out and connected that up - new I believe for this year - set time and date at the press of a button to the one the computer has (which should be 100% as windoze adjusts in the background) - all done

I did mention ROW has silly daylight saving that RSA never had - so it would be nice to be able to offset the hours to some other setting than just PC time - as 1) in the winter its not hard to work out the hour and just leave the bike on BST all year round and or doing a service ready for a trip and the hour is about to swap in a few days anyway.... so thats coming in a future improvement and the tyre temps bit is also on the nice to have list for one day.....
 
wlad replied (motoscan) - he does this bit very well - allegedly under service options you can change time - I saw 3 options to play earlier today - none said time - so I never ticked them to see.....

I want an option box that says "time and date" and when I go there I want simple meus that do what they say they will - NOTHING ELSE

Why go to all that effort when it takes seconds to re-set the time by just using the button on the handlebar?

can you do 1 and 2 the important bits via that button ?

1) get the TPMS tyre temp menu to display,

But you stated that you did one and two in 30 seconds. Then 25 mins later you were still trying to set the time.
Why didn't you come out of what you were doing and set the clock normally, this would have taken you seconds too, it seems you've over complicated it by persevering with something you were struggling to get to work.
That's all I meant.
 
I have never known how to use the user features to do the clock - watched one guy do it once and thought I'm never bothering to waste time learning that rubbish

it was more the need to understand how come its so hidden in motoscan that made me pursue things - the frustration was in his menu structure and obfuscation - not BMWs efforts

But you'll waste hours doing all this other gobbledegook with your scanners, that tbh I ain't got a clue what you're actually talking about.
And all that seems utterly pointless to me.
Each to their own I suppose. 🙄😁
