R1150gs. The bike was stored in a shed for a few weeks with no access to a trickle charger. The battery went dead. I had a new car battery and used it as a donor to slowly transfer power to the bike through the accessory socket. Don't worry I made no attempt to start it. I left the donor plugged in for a week and disconnected it and started the bike no problem. Only problem now is that every time I start the bike now the clock resets itself to 0:00.
What's up ?

Probably the volts dropping to low with the load from starter motor, hence clock looses power.

True...

So if the clock is already at 0:00 as soon as you turn the key in the ignition then it's fuse 3.

If the clock only resets when you crank the bike over then it's probably not enough cranking amps in the battery.

If you lift the tank and connect car battery with jump leads, try it to see if it still happens, should prove it one way or another

Mine has new odyssey battery and fuses okay and it still happens.

Shouldn't with an Odyssey :nenau

When mine still had the factory fitted battery it would do it sometimes if you didn't give the bike enough time to prime the pump etc. I used to have to turn the key and wait a couple of seconds for everything to turn on and then start cranking the bike over.

Not had a problem since I used Odysseys - unless the battery was dying on a really cold winters day

Remove Starter cover for jump starts.easier:blagblah

check the wiring loom as it passes over the headstock - fairly common on 1150s that the loom is cable tied too tightly and the insulation can get worn through. IIRC this has been the source of some clock resets in the past.

I had this issue (resetting to 0:00 upon starting) and had an oddessy fitted - mucked about looking into fuses etc... In the end changed the battery and problem solved.

Guess the battery was a bit old or crap or something.

Mine does this also. My guess was a lazy starter motor, or starter on the way out. It needs a little extra from the battery to turn over so all that current drawn out will reset the clock.
