Just had a quick look at my rear pads & while there gave a tug on the wheel heard a slight clonking noise think it may be the swing arm bearings as there's very slight play . My question is if I hadnt been messing about I wouldnt have heard the noise or felt the very slight play.
I could here the noise by pulling on the rear of the bike slightly while on the centre stand & rear wheel touching the ground now the noise has gone but there is still very slight play
Now do I leave it after all its on 15000 miles so between services or take it to the dealers trouble is off to the Dolomites in a month & havent a local dealer in Norfolk.

My question is this is any play acceptable ??

Check to see if the play is at the bevel bearing end of things. I found play in mine at it was the bevel bearing. My guess would be that no play is good and when doing a long trip it's better to be safe than sorry. I had my bevel bearing done before I would ride it home from the garage and I'm still here so seems like a wise choice to me. Cost me £150 which sounds a bit dear (bearing is only £30 ish, but I know it was done right and shouldn't go again for a while.
I suppose you pay your money or you take your chances :nenau
