Close call and subsequent damage to bike

That's much cheaper than spending £1000+ on a new oe shock!!

Or even £600 for a Wilbers.

Yesterday I was nearly taken out by a Land Rover going straight over a cross roads. Thankfully he kept his foot down because I'd never have stopped if he did the default option.
A mile further on a woman in a Volvo turning right pulled out and stopped right across my side of the road. I was being careful after the LR 2 mins before but only stopped just in time. She didn't even look until I (by then stopped) hit the horn.
Totally unconcerned she had not even seen me coming thought I was being polite.
The look of incredulity on the bloke's face waiting behind her was a picture.

On a different note to almost getting squashed, I sent the rear shock of to MCT Suspension. The previous owner, the Off Road Skills Course in Wales, wasn't as particular about the bike as perhaps some of the others on here would be!!

So MCT reckoned the shock looked like it had done about 50k miles, not the 9k that it had actually done.... perhaps the previous hard life in the Welsh hills had something to do with that!!!!...So went for repair and upgrade of spring, with revalve, as I've decided to to keep the bike. At the end of the day, regardless of how it looks, it's still a low mileage, mechanically sound 1200 GS!!

Should be fitted this evening, will report back once I've had it out for a spin.

And as you say, the BM shock is almost £450, with Wilbers a bit more than that. So considering the state off mine, and some additional bits needing replacing as well as the upgrade, £270 isn't that bad!!

OEM is about a grand I believe for a new shock. Wilbers and most others are around 1/2 that.

My bike suffered badly with corrosion, but now looks great with its powder coated engine parts and frame.
