Coming out of the vosgues mountains this morning.
I had another pass to do as I passed a fuel station.
Range said 52 miles remaining I thought oh that'll be alright then so I carried on. I'd already done 410 miles on this tankful but the gauge has always been acurate on this fuel strip.
The pass went on and on and I finally got back onto normal roads with 20 miles range left. Rode on a bit. No fuel station. Plugged in one on the sat nav about 12K away. Got there and it was shut down:eek found a supermarket one another12K away. Got near it and the road was shut. 5 miles range left.
A total garage was next 13K away. Getting worried now.
Carried on with little throttle opening range hits zero.
Still moving. 4K to go. Thought I was going to be pushing it in 36 degree heat:blast
Made it to the fuel station. And filled up
466 miles covered.
I squeezed in 37.21 litres. I've never put that much in before.
A big sigh of relief and I carried on.
I don't think I'll wait so long next time

466 miles!!! I should get a GSA! Mines run out at 212 miles (fortunately only 0.5 miles from the petrol station)!

Yes... But about half of the GSA is fuel tank. And yes you should get one, they're awesome.

Got down to 3 mile range a few weeks ago in the border, was shitting it as 9pm on a Friday. Filled up and had at least 2 litres still in there.

I’ve had a couple of GSAs 36 liters is the most I got into my 2009. My 2014 had a smaller tank. 30 liters. Never tried it for more. My RT has a 25 tank. Same range though. Taller gearing smaller frontal area and a bit more slippery trough the air. JJH

Mine takes more than 35 litres from bone dry. You were lucky not to have a fuel strip. They lie or they don’t let the fuel pump properly empty the tank.

Poly tanks expand with age. The tanks on some early adopter bikes (Morini for one and some Triumphs) no longer fit the bike. A bike engineer near me is making replacement alloy tanks for the Morini club.

The GSA will use at least 10% more fuel with side cases fitted (full or empty) so no surprises the RT with its slippery shape is so much better on fuel consumption.
