A lot of basic repairs to motorcycle kit can be done by people not necessarily always associated with motorbikes. To a half competent seamstress, a zip replacement in a jacket (say on a cuff) is “Just a zip replacement”; the jacket does not necessarily need to be sent halfway across the country to a ‘specialist’.
