I am about to buy some new clothing ready for the winter. I'd love the BMW stuff but I can't remortgage to buy it plus the missus isn't keen on me wearing BMW kit whilst riding a BMW as she said its nerdy or something, (I switched off after a while)

I like the look of the touring style clothing with the light and dark patches similar to the BMW stuff as all black just looks boring to me which seems to be the common colour. Any ideas? What do you guys and gals where. I have a dark grey RT.

Klim Badlands Pro - light grey option :)

Holy cow, £750, the BMW ones only £450, nice jacket though from Klim, not sure on the other one. I was thinking Alpinestars Touratech, RST pro series or perhaps Richa Tourareg.

You won't regret looking at Rev'it kit. Sold in several stockists - Getgeared is one or Harper's at Leigh on Sea are the importers. Excellent quality ( Dutch design and owned) and beautifully waterproof. Just watch glove sizes if you buy on line. They are on the small size but not jackets and trousers.
I've given up with BMW kit. It is not really worth the money in my view. Their boots seem good but Revit clothing is of equal or better quality but much cheaper.

I got the Klim Latitude Misano from AdventureSpec at the start of last winter. Not cheap gear, but very good.

I have a Hein Gerricke gore-tex suit as my main touring outfit, but use Spada gear everyday and have done so for years, can't fault it. Theres even a "factory outlet" type shop flogging it very cheap not far from me making it even more of a bargain, eg, kitted out young son with jacket, trousers and boots and got change from £100! 4 years later and now on his own bike, its still in good nick and waterproof.:D

Or go to Germany and pick up some Hein Gericke stuff. The jackets they were selling here for £399 are on sale at the minute for less than 300 euro.

Thanks for the help guys, still unsure, might wait until motorcycle live and see whats on offer, my stuffs still ok,,,,,, for now. Itspretty worn, got it in 05 so well used.

Clothing is not only about a nice looking kit and budget, but also feeling confy when wearing it. Different brands have different cuts so better to try them on...

Personal choice.... Dainese.

I normally compare prices here: http://www.motocard.com/

Check out the Spada Explorer suit I obviously don't know what your spending powers but it's not going to be anywhere near the price of Rukka, BMW, Dianesse etc

Another vote for Rev It.

Good on line service from Harper's at Leigh on Sea.

Sent me e mails updating me on an item that was not in stock and delivered separately from items that were in stock.

Not so sure about Rev'it! All my riding gear is Rev'it bought about 6 years ago, had to take jacket, trousers and boots back as all leaked. No problem getting them replaced but even replacements are not 100 waterproof so if it looks like heavy rain I wear a rain suit on top. I replaced the boots 3 years ago with TCX and despite some cracks appearing, they are still 100% waterproof. The Rev'it gloves were never waterproof but were so comfy I kept them 'till they started to fall apart and I replaced these with Rukka ones 18 months ago. When I spoke to the dealer about the Rev'it gear when I was chosing my new gloves he said that had he known the type of riding that I did (all weathers as I use the 'bike for work trips all over the country) he said that he would have persuaded me to buy Rukka kit!
Anyway, I've now got my £500 BM voucher to use so maybe it's time to replace the Rev'it gear. I bought the BM Boulder jacket earlier this year as a summer jacket and must admit that it is quality!

Morning folks, just bought a BMW RT tourer so this is my first post. Reference your comments on clothing I have recently purchased Alpinestars new two piece touring suit the Valapraiso. Following two touring trips to Galway, Southern Ireland and Inverness in Scotland, both of which had heavy rain I found it to be both comfortable and 100% waterproof. It has their "dry star" waterproof lining as well as a thermal lining. Good quality kit for £480.00 from J&S Accessories online website. Hope this helps.

Keep her lit and rubber side down.

Try the new BMW Streetguard 4 jacket, just got one & it's a great bit of kit & if you ask around you may get a BMW dealer to give you a decent discount

Recently got the Streetguard 4 suit delivered, the longer jacket is much better for me than the previous streetguard suit I have.

Me too

I went for the longer BMW SG4 jacket as I have a longer torso & it's fine, plus I wanted all black because any colours on a jacket soon look shabby, especially light ones - with road grime, which never washes off
