I was hoping it would go away, but I might be the first with a real problem,

I can't get neutral once the bikes hot, an very cluncky shifts in low gearss,

Been to Cannons today and they are contacting BMW,

I wait with baited breath, Cannons seam happy for me to ride it like it is,

Its been getting progressively worse since first service,

Trip in to smoke to circumnavigate the A406 highlighted issue, n hefty clunk as you go from neutral to first is getting louder.

Quizzed them on what Oil they used 5w 40

There's no bloody adjustment on clutch

I'll keep you guys posted,:tears

How long

Mine's been fine.:thumb Now, what's all this talk of long lunches:rob:D

Its a pity really, you would have thought that BMW would have got the gear box right by now or maybe this is isolated case.

If it's anything like the local dealer who only had Shell 15W40 in their bulk tanks

Perhaps they used the wrong oil

Remember a while ago in a WC post I mentioned that it's now a wet clutch so wrong grade may cause the drag?? Or the converse slippage if not proper lube for a wet clutch??

Have you tried adjusting the clutch lever out away from the bars to give you more action/travel when pulling in?

On my bike, when I have it adjusted all the way in, I can't get a clean change up/down without a crunch.

I would agree with that, i got BMW specific oil in Spain for my TC, its in the BMW labeled bottle. i inquired at a BMW dealer here for the same oil but they don't have it only Castrol.

i experienced clutch drag on a 2000 mile demo bike, tbh the clutch and gearbox were shite,my 2012 gsa engaged gear much better.the clonk when engaging ist on the lc was frankly shocking imo.

Having spent many hours tweaking clutches on GasGas Trials bikes, they are really susceptible to oil being dead right otherwise drag something awful.

So I too suspected Oil but Cannons have assured me its got 5w -40 in it.

I nearly bought four litres to change it myself just to see, but for now will give BMW a chance,

Seems to have become an issue since first service or since its run in.

Yup have tried different lever positions no difference in clonkyness n still can't get neutral.

The clunk into 1st sounds typically Japanese, so the BMW clunk is normal then, since it has Japanese gear internals.
Clutch drag with multi-plate clutches, may be down to incorrect adjustment.
I wonder what the clutch access is like.

OMG! Heathen! You hold the Clutch at lights????????

Surely you shall be damned to the pits of yer wallet for that one Sir! :D

If I am going to be stopped for too long I just switch off the engine. I'm not doing the Hendon shuffle for anyone. I always leave it parked in gear. The guys at BMW off road skills taught me that.
