Ok, so I bit the bullet and orders a OEM BMW clutch kit. There are so many options for the 1200, I know that it has been around for eons, but why is there no after market option for the f800?

Probably because the 1200 outsells the F800 by an enormous margin, I don't know what the stat us, but at my local dealer there are probably 10:1 in the car park

Theres a lot of good things about the Recluse which makes me want one too. However there must be a price to pay such as increased wear and replacement of plates.
And, not too sure I want to go semi auto just yet - reminds me too much of my first real bike C100 cub and trying to "slip the clutch" for some reason!

Hello all,

A quick question to those of you that have replaced clutches - did you replace the entire clutch or just the plates? The reason i ask is that when getting quotes for replacement it was suggested that plates on their own would rub or rattle so the whole basket was recommended. I can't think why this would be but have any of you had this experience?

As always, any advice would be gratefully received,

S

Replaced my clutch about a month ago, at 69K, after it started slipping, when giving it some beans
BMW sell a kit which comprises of steel plates, friction discs and new springs.
I checked the basket and it was fine, good for another 70 K

Thanks Thomo - I beginning to think most people tend to do just plates/springs. Possibly just dealer trying to make sale on a very expensive part. I'll check myself for wear on the basket when the day does come.

Best,

S
