Clutch May be gone !!! 11,600 miles.

Today and yesterday I noticed the clutch felt different. It felt a lot softer to pull in and when I released it it snapped into gear and nearly pulled a wheelie. Then on my way home it was stuck in second gear and stalled at lights. One call to BMW later and I hope the professor (Conor) will look at it in the morning. It should be an interesting ride to BMW. All of this wth only 11,600 miles on the clock.

Without doubt this is pretty bad news, but from the symptoms you describe I don't thing that the friction plate has worn out - it sounds like it's something in the release mechanism. That may still mean having the bike apart, though!

I had the same problem, it turned out to be the hydrolics, a small bolt at tue back of the clutch came loose,...... no clutch.
It only took CW Motorcycles an hour to fix it.

UPDATE !!

Well BMW Ireland looked at it and we (they) think the "slave cylinder" ? is gone. He bled the clutch fluid and re filled it, all fine for six miles then gone again. Part now on order all under warranty so no cost. Bike now in my garage going nowhere, will have to get bike breakdown people to move it back to BMW.

Had a similar problem but it turned out to be a pinhole leak in the hose. Fine for immediate changes but put it in gear and hold the clutch in for 20-30secs (like waiting for the lights to go green) and the clutch slowly released itself and stalled the engine. Thank goodness I always have one of the brakes on at standstill 'cos the bike tried to launch itself through the lights.

Easily fixed by the dealer in less than an hour.

Also one of my symptoms. Getting a loan of an RT 1150 today..............yawn
