Is there a special thingy to allow removal of the cap off the reservoir?

I use some telephone wire to go underneath the brake fluid cap - just pull it tight and then untwist the top. I assume the clutch cap is the same.

Okay then, clever shites: Why did it look like the fluid level was sloshing around in the bottom of the reservoir while I was out, yet full to overflowing at home, in the garage?

The fluid level goes up as the clutch wears so you may need to drain a bit out to restore the correct level, a small syringe usually does the trick.

Too much fluid in the reservoir may cause a slipping clutch.

Never seen a sponge in one ??

It should have a rubber bellows that also seals the lid. Fluid should be between max and min lines on reservoir.
If cap is too tight granny might have some jam jar pliers

You have no idea what you're talking about. Do you?

Probably not but I have fitted a new slave cylinder and stripped the master cylinder right down to the seals and opened the clutch when I had the gearbox off.
Fluid level rises as clutch wears eventually clutch slip.
When reservoir lid is too tight you need Arnie to help.

Fair enough....but there seem to be two bits you need to press inwards whilst screwing off the lid on mine...... and I stll can't figure why it seems to be full whilst cool and parked in the gareage, but almost empty while out riding.....

Me neither, but can confirm the unusual bit about level rising on wear
