Hi chaps

just popped out for a bit of a spin this afternoon, changing down from 3 to 2- and the tranny objected something rotton but went in, parked up had a bit of a looksy around and now seem to have very little resistance in my clutch lever and cannot change gear. Plenty of fluid in the header resevoir, so I am guessing that the slave seal has gone, this don't look like a big job but bugga bugga bugga. Gonna give the dealer a call in the morning to see what they reckon:rolleyes:

any other thoughts

I've heard of a few people having this problem. I seem to remember that a highline crack can occour in the hydraulic pipe causing the problem.

turns out that the slave cylinder is okay- which is nice, also I have had confirmed that the friction plates are not worn out,,,,,, but the metal plate thet they are fastened to has disentergrated and taken with it the pressure plate, clutch rod and anything else metal that spins in there.

er what is it with these germans and their dry clutches??

anyway Mondial assistance turned up yesterday with a hire car to use for a few days while the bugger is being rebuit. - thank god for the 2 year warranty!

Can't think of a manual transmission car that doesn't have a dry clutch

sure enough, but in a car ya don't use the slipping clutch for improving balance whilst for example doing a slow U turn- ie keep the revs up to maintain the centrifuge effect

but I could be wrong
