Hey guys, I recently had a failed clutch slave cylinder which I replaced on my 2006 GSA with 90k miles on it. As part of the replacing it, I also cleaned and flushed the master cylinder, installed a new clutch line (as I was also rebuilding the brake system and thought I would treat it to a new one) cleaned and checked the pushrod, replaced the felt pad, refilled with V10 and bleed the system. Job done all good!!
About a week later (100miles of London commuting ) I noticed the colour of the fluid in the reservoir had changed from the clear brilliant royal blue colour to a shite looking opaque blue/green. Another week on I've noticed the level has dropped ever so slightly. So tonight I pulled the slave cylinder off and I can see some fluid at the back of the unit around the thrust bearing.
When I did the job I was very clean and careful not to contaminate any of the components so it's unlikely the new seals have been damaged by foreign crap in the fluid. I've really no idea at this point what may have caused it to fail so soon. I replaced the same part about 10 years ago with no issues afterwards.
Actually I just went and checked the push rod and although it is straight there is some side to side play when it is installed without the cylinder but I've no idea if this is normal.
Any ideas or thoughts on what's going here?
Thanks
