Sunday morning I popped out for a ride, got as far as the garage door and my clutch reengaged without my movement of the lever, luckily I was quick on the brake to stall the engine.

It looks a little wet over the swing arm and Im assuming without checking my manuals that this is the slave cylinder.

For those that have experience with this issue, what should I expect to see, buy and have to do?

Gonne set about this Saturday morning I recon.

Not sure if you have a GS or GSA, but here goes;

With a standard GS clutch hose there is a rubber sleeve where the hose goes onto the slave cylinder, this traps water and rots the end of the hose resulting in a sudden loss of fluid DAMHIK :blast

You can get the S/Steel hose from a GSA which drops straight on, but you do have to change one of the banjo bolts (All explained on the Motorworks site)

If you do go the S/Steel route, its worth ordering the S/Steel bleed hose from www.probrake.de (part No. 14497)

PS
The slave cylinders are sometimes in short supply, so try Sherlocks, MW etc to see who has one in stock if you end up needing that as well

+1....however, should you retain the origonal it's worth cutting outer sleeve off with a sharp blade. A good dollop of grease on the banjo's should prevent corrosion.

It might not be the slave cylinder. It might be leaking from the ali washers on the banjo bolts - they corrode, badly. And when corroded they leak fluid.

This is a common problem, and it's been posted as a warning many many times over the years .

your spot on Steptoe, just looked and I think the alu washers are to blame.

Gonna try replacing the washers and reconnecting then the suggested "jam a screwdriver in the ball bearing" method of bleeding.

Ill pop up to BMW and pay £5 each for 4 washers no doubt.... :blast

Just to remind you guys of this problem.Have a look into your R1150 bike.

I saw this today.
