Clutch slipping

er....okay...?

Clutch slave cylinder had gone...not the clutch itself but of course the whole thing had to be replaced.....

all work carried out by Independant dealers...NOT main dealer.....

and I guess the Brake Servo failing was down to the way I use the brakes ......?

my 5th GS over the years......out of 40 or so bikes.....

I'm an Advanced Rider........so go figure.....

and thanks for your comments........no really.....

I wasn't aware of the reasons for and all of the failures, though I cannot but wonder at a clutch being changed because of a slave cylinder failure.

Hope you have a better run in the future.

i've an r850r in my garage i use for parts for my r1150gsa.

The r is a shite bike. It'll never be a good bike. It will always cause problems and let me down and I hate it. It's just that the bike itself is crap. Not all r850r's are unreliable and prone to deliver heartbreak.

Same with yours I recon. Get rid of it and get another r1150. Problem sorted.

It's not usually slave cylinder failure, it's the gearbox seal that leaks gearbox oil into the slave cylinder aperture which then migrates down the clutch pushrod tunnel to the clutch.

If it was the slave cylinder leaking the clutch fluid level would have dropped and the bike would have had clutch drag and gearchange problems.
