Ok, so here's how stupid I am....

I just bought a cheap 2610 (well about a month ago) and although i previously had a Quest, i figured that as the Quest used City Select, i wouldn't be able to use my second unlock code to unlock the CN8 that came with my 2610.... so i registered and used my unlock that came with the 2610 to be able to use the mapping....

Ofcourse, muppet here didn't think about the fact that CN9 was due in a matter of weeks, and now (as far as i know) am unable to get a free upgrade to CN9!!! :spitfire

I'm struggling to not wind myself up about this, as it looks like i will have missed it by a month only....

which leads to my question... I expect the answer will be NO, but....

Does anyone know of any way i can still register for a free upgrade to CN9?

Can I un-register my CN8? or is too late now, i've missed the boat?

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH i'm sooooo frustrated with myself!!!

Maybe a polite (pleading) phone call to Garmin will help, who knows!

There's no way Garmin will allow you to de-register your 2610.

However, you might get lucky. The 'cut-off' date for CN v9 NT was 1 September 2006 even though it's only just become available.

When the regular version of CN v9 becomes available, you may find that the cut off date is before when you registered.

So does anyone have any idea when CN v9 is due to become available????

My CN8 was registered Oct 4th, So i'm desperately hoping for CN9 to be back dated to before then.... fingers crossed eh....

You didn't have to register to use your 2610 -

You only need register when you want the next upgrade, Thanks to judges advice, thats what i did when i bought my 2610 :thumb

I've just registered mine (forgot:D ) but when I try to upgrade it says no updates available for my Garmin unit, is this right or should one be able to order the cd now?

CN v9 NT is apparently available now. However, the plain CN v9 that both the 2610 and the Quest use won't be available for a few weeks. When I say 'available' I mean you can order the upgrade DVD, not sure if they're being delivered yet. Garmin did have a few problems with their database so even some users of the NT version had problems requesting the update to start with though I read elsewhere that these were due to be resolved over the weekend.

Upgrade

Just rang Garmin and they again confirmed that if you registered your 2610 after 1st Sep 06, then getting the free upgrade to CN9 will be no problem at all. He said CN9 should be out in a few weeks.
