What would one expect as standard Co² readings ?

And with a Lazer exhaust (Pro d'Or I think) and chip what would one then expect.

My presumption is that the engine is set to run rich......however presumption is the mother of many c-ck ups!

Cheers

should be around 2% IIRC.

i 'spect someone who's sure will be along shortly.

That's what I thought

I have been told it is sitting at around 4%

And as a complete numpty in this area I need to know how to fettle this.....and there is no access to a decent BMW mechanic at present.

you need a CO meter and adjust the screw under the rear mudguard.

1.5 to 2.25%

turn the screw "in" to weaken the mixture. Try a turn at a time for starters and see how you go.

the engine and exhaust needs to be HOT.

look under the rear mudguard, R/H side (offside) you'll see a hole, which leads to the CO pot.

CO is carbon MONoxide.

CO2 is carbon DIoxide.

the screw in the CO pot as for what it does.. see prev post.

Come on! stop being coy and obtuse, where is this "screw" and what does it do...........

Also is there a difference between a CO meter & a Co² meter....?

Thx in advance

it's under the rear mudguard (top, RHS) and adjusts the mixture :eek

a CO meter is used to adjust mixture.

A screwdriver is actually used to adjust mixture - the meter just measures the figure ! :)

any garage will have one. (the meter) you can provide your own screwdriver... just be sure the bike is fully up to temp (5 bars) or you wont get an accurate reading.

Don't worry what the CO reading is as long as it's within the tolerances. At operating temp and fast idle, set the Air Fuel Ratio to 14.7 to 1 (displayed on the gas analyser as AFR) then that's it set perfectly for your engine with the wear and tolerences it has. This is called Stoichiometric Tuning, setting the engine for its perfect combustion and not a general setting.

I have located my CO pot, it appears to be a multi turn job, my mate has a CO meter, tomorrow I will see what its running at.

Well , what was the figure .... what is it now , and how many turns in to achieve ?
Any change in consumption ....... or too soon to say ?

Not done the deed yet, getting the combination of five bars temp, and the meter powered up and warmed /calibrated means that the job is postponed for a short while.

Did the adjustment today, I have a 97 1100 with a Laser exhaust, no lambda sensor, running with the standard beige CCP. Initial reading CO was 5% Approximately 3 turns inwards got me to 2% CO I will report on fuel consumption after some miles.
