out in my car today and seen council grit trucks spraying sand on roads around Trim and Navan. It made a good noise when it hit the car. I am guessing that is sand and think that it is something to do with the road surface melting in the current heat. I will be xtra carefull on the bike for the next while. JJH

Same here in Co Galway, they seem to be expert at putting it down on the far side of a bend and at juncions. Yesterday evening I rounded a corner to find to mounds of earth and grit, about 2 feet high, they had filled a pothole and the trucks had bounced it out into a heap.....it's lethal here at the moment on some roads.

Going thru Kildorrery on Monday when the temp was reading 26deg a bit after noon and the road was peeling up like mad so I guess the spraying would have prevented it from sticking to me nice new tyres..
