Going on the ferry in September then we plan to turn right and head towards the corner, probably camping
Any suggestions for where is good to stay? I think it would be going west along the coast, probably come back more inland through the hills

Even if you know of a decent campsite 100 to 200 km from the ferry that would be grand (that has beer sellers near by, she has a terrible thirst problem
:augie)

Cheers

Us too

Hi
If you come accross any nice places to stay and a good route, let us know, were going in same direction as you too in September, just booked ferry.

Luerca

I think that's how it's pronounced. Made that our firts stop on the coast a few years back. Has a really nice campsite on a hill top. 5 minute walk down into the fishing port, where there's a couple of nice bars and tapas places. In fact, i'll get my coat. i'm coming too.

Potes. Hostel on the main square cheap as chips so it's not worth camping. It's not on the coast but it's in a good spot in the Picos.

I drove all along the coast road to Coruna, then santiago, and down to porto then all the way to faro, then ,oh you get the picture , nice place for first stop from the ferry was Ribideo.
But that was 29 years ago so i doubt anything i have to say is of any relevance now :rob

+ 1 for Luarca

There's a a nice campsite at Comillas on the coast, but even better is to stay at LaPisa Guesthouse in the picos, we allways go there straight from the ferry, english owned, 48 Euros pppn including 3 course gorgeous dinner and proper breakfast. Makes for a nice starting point after a ferry crossing.

Just got back from there. It seems to me that it gets better the further west you go. certainly 50+ miles from santiago and it looks up. Theres plenty of campsites and the santander boat gets in at a civilised time so i would go west young man until after lunch and then head off the main drag until a site pops up. we aimed to go to Playa de Rodiles but the camp site was full so we ended up on another quiet site nearby. It was a good way from a pub so i dont recommend it. You should head into the picos at some stage, Potes has several good campsites and many good watering holes. Feunta De has a cable car up into the mountains and if walking floats yer boat then its a good day up there. I have Michelin regional Maps 571 and 572 for asturias/cantabria and galicia. £5.99 each new and yours for a couple of quid if you pm me and send a stamped adressed envelope. camp sites are shown on them.
