First of all nice to meet everyone and now to business.

I received my cobra mt800 walkies today, and the problem im having is it works great push to talk on the headphones/mic but not on vox with the headphones and mic, i also got the in-helmet handsfree system specific for the model but no joy with that either.Am i missing something ?

Any help would be much appreciated.:nenau

VOX on the radio itself and using the headsets included with the likes of Cobra radios won't work on the bike. Wind noise will trigger the VOX and make you inaudible over about 40mph. You really need to either go for PTT and get a headset with a noise cancelling mic or go for a full intercom system like Autocom or Starcom.

The intercoms above incorporate their own VOX circuitry and have noise cancelling mics. Being designed for bike use they do work. However, I would still recommend PTT as that way you only transmit what you want. Poorly set-up VOX can be pain for your riding buddies as well.

thanks for the info.
i also bought a bike2bike handsfree system for the radios would that help at all?
this is for bike to bike comms not rider to pillion the main problem i have is getting the vox to work through the headsets

As Bumpkins has said go with a PTT setup it is alot easier/reliable VOX is a PITA to setup and if your mic gets triggered by accident, its everyone else in range that gets the random windnoise and chatter
