Coffee (Espresso)

Hi John,
You need to pump at least 2 lots of hot water through it to get it properly hot, otherwise yiou only get lukearm coffee.
If your at Sid's then you can have my old one which takes Nespresso capsules and give it a try.

The advantage of the Aeropress go is that verything stores inside the mug you drink out of

I did wonder what the temperature would be like. A mate has a capsule machine in his house and that's not particularly hot.
Thanks for the offer Neil, but I will have bought one by then. Looking more and more like the Aero.

If deciding on the Aeropress, a good move, be aware that there's the original and a new compact version for travel Aeropess GO, all packs into one, worth the extra I'd say on the original

I was mistaken commenting on the aero press, the kit I have is called Handpresso makes small shots of excellent coffee
A friend has one of those, the pump action unit but is looking a the new battery powered one.
More than I want to spend.

The GO is nice and compact, but I like to use a twin-walled cup to keep it warmer that little bit longer :)

What you want is one of these. :thumb2 IMG_2487.jpeg

Several other options there too.

+1 for Aeropress Go. Packs together nicely. I don’t use the supplied mug - I use a different one.

 Nope!
But I used to use a good (new) sock before I found the MSR foil filter to filter my coffee. It worked just as well.:thumb2 & cost pennies (even to replace- parts available worldwide)

Instructions:
Spoon coffee into sock
Place sock in mug
Pour water at roughly 80°C
Let sit
Remove sock and let drip
Add Grand Marnier/Cointreau/Kahlua
Enjoy!
Turn inside out to wash out
Let dry
Repeat as required.
Deeeelicious!

Those senses coffee pods bags or whatever they are. How much coffee do they hold? Just asking as I measured out how much coffee I put in my aeropress this morning. 3 of my scoops is about 22grams for a full press (ie up to the top) which I then top up with a bit of hot water in the mug for a mug full using the supplied mug with the Go version. That’s a strong but not desperately strong full mug using freshly ground Taylor’s Italian blend beans on a medium grind. If those bags only hold a small amount of coffee you would either need to double up or have a very small brew.

My tip for a good aeropress is not to hang around letting it steep. Coffee in, water off the boil in, stirring as it goes in. Press immediately. I get rather bitter coffee if I let it steep for even 30seconds.

They do do a double dose pad/bag/pod.
I have only used them in a Philips Senseo machine and one standard pad gives about 80 to 100 ml, depending on your selection
Two cups is just right in the morning.

I have ordered an Aeropress. Standard. Didn't see the point of the go as I have me own cups.

Place sock in mug
I used to buy coffee brewed in a nylon stocking in Changi village, Fred's Place.
A goodly teaspoon of condensed milk was added. Served in a glass. Lovely.
If we were "flush" we would buy a cheese roll which was a lump of baguette with Craft tinned cheese in it.
Dunked in the coffee. Nice it was :D

I’ve got an Aeropress and use it when away in hotels or when away camping, or even at home if I’ve got some ground coffee to use up, it’s easy to use and clean, makes great coffee, for the price I’ve certainly no complaints.

Let the water cool for 5 minutes then add to the Aeropress, wait 2 minutes before pressing. Perfect coffee no bitterness. At home I use a kettle with a temperature setting and heat water to 80c, saves having to wait. (Watch the video on YouTube by the inventor).
