So got my new coil sticks. And I just tried to remove the old one :cautious: when it broke and left the end (plastic part) around the spark plug. So now I'm trapped at home ! What's a possible solution ? How will I get it out ? Does the cylinder cover need to be removed ? Thanks.

Just undo the Rocker cover and pull it off

NOTE !!!

When refitting rocker cover Make sure that the Rubber sparkplug tunnel Seal is set in place correctly

Make sure to run the bolts in with an 6mm allen Key BY HAND!!

AND when the bolt snugs up

STOP!!!! do not twist any further! You will jack the threads out of the head!!

Notice the wee fat metallic bulge just inside the threads, thats why you don;t try and "Nip it up!"

Thanks Jay, I've sourced a mechanic locally that comes with a good recommendation. I'll be printing you comment to show him. As the bike is 2005 should I order new seals for the rocker covers ?

Yes, new seals, the donut ring type and likely the gasket between the cover and head.
These go on dry, both the gasket seal and both mating faces, must be dry.
Feck off! Only ever had to replace spark plug tunnel seals EVER, and to prevent salt ingress every one I ever did got a nice smear of Rubber grease on the faces and squeezed in all around with a cloth after it was tightened to try and prevent the Magnesium covers Disintegrating!

@luke scott order part 3 as a standby and IF the one on the bike is any way swollen?

Fire the new one straight on!

If you have any oil around the oil filler cap?? Sure Get the two O rings for all they cost parts 6 and 8

Duffy's or Other local BMW may be as cheap as post etc etc from GB

Hi Luke,
Will you please share your local mechanic, if he is recommended?

Tell me if I’m wrong, but Is it not possible to see the stick coil through the cylinder head opening when viewed from the exhaust header. It’s limited access, with a hole only 10x20mm, but a screwdriver should be able to lever it back far enough to loosen it from the plug.

It’s really a bit of a non problem. 🙄

Did you use the correct puller on the plug cap or just tugged at it with your hand?

Both the correct puller as well as my hand. But the end of the stick fell apart. Two different garages (NDM and Franklin Motorcycles) had looked at it. Each of them had been told by me that the coil sticks needed to be examined, and both of them said that it wasn't the coil sticks. I'll not be spending a cent with either again.
