Col de la Moutiere - at last !

The bumps aren't the problem , the very loose surface combined with ruts and sharp switchbacks , some switchbacks with the rut mid turn are the problem, particualry from the Jausier end. Mind you, my bike was fully loaded.

I drove an off road area of Val d'Isere a couple of years back in my Td5 Discovery and trust me ,there is nowhere near the same physical input off road in a four wheeler. On two wheels you start to realise the challenge actually is a challenge.

pictures won't load for me. o2 playing up again, i think

must be a local problem as I'm with O2 (Be* sub-brand) and all looks fine

clear your cache, try another browser etc...

I think you've got a 'feckin Franco's gorgeous Riviera photies, smartarsed cnut" filter on there somewhere... Can you get directly to the motorcycle photies directory here?

I must say what fantastic photos they are and a grand write-up
You should try it on a 1200 !!:blast

Nice to see you up to the good ride reports franco , do not get on hear that often now that I have gone all orange

Keep up the good work mate :clap

Cheers Shan, good to hear from ya. Was actually thinking aboot you the other day, must have been cos I was out on the bike. Or was it me roofing problem? Ha ha

But broke my right hand into a few bits four months ago and have not been able to use the bike but should be ok soon .

Soooo, if it all looks fine, why haven't you said what fantastic photos they were and a grand write-up? :D

Well, okay, but I have to be fully objective and say they are decent photos and a reasonable write-up from a self-centred, smug bastard who makes me turn green every time I read a report he writes. This is obviously from feeling sick not any sort of envy.

+1.

I think this might be his best RR ever, only spoilt by his spelling, punctuation, grammar, and accent.

Haha, Just seen this post. When wifey and I visited the Col de la Bonette I saw that path and thought "mmmm wonder where that goes" hehe. Unfortunately wifey wasn't up for it so we never did find out.

Thanks for sharing :thumb

I think this is my pic of it

Ye see, I KNEW that would happen, as I've got exactly the same photo taken a couple of years back, and now we know where it goes :D

Franco,

Would have loved to do that run with you, stunning. Off the beaten track routes offer brilliant views.

Any how you have prompted me to write our trip report to Castellane RGAlpes and around.

Thanks for posting, persuade your lad to come with you take lots of photos, start a scrap book of your trips, take him camping , my girls have wonderful memories of our motorcycle trips away. Once they get to the "Whatever" kevin and Perry stage its too late usually.

Granddaughter now nearly old enough for bike trips. Can not wait.:D

Andrew

Cheers Andrew, yeah the kids still love coming out on the bike, even if they are now bleedin teenagers :D
Next time you're down, we can hopefully meet up, pisser about me travelling a lot with work at the mo.
Looking forward to seeing yer photos :thumb

FFS...Will ya STOP STOP STOP posting ride reports like this....

The last time ya bleedin did that I :

1) Decided to take a week on the bike by myself..
2) Had argument with SWMBO...since she wasnt invited...and she didnt want to come anyways..
3) Rode down to Castellaine...
4) Rode the Gorge du Verdon following YOUR directions..
5) Into YOUR home village where I had a fantastic tanned waitress bringing me freshly cooked pasta AND a little smile...
6) Then accross to Gorge du Tarn...and another (unfortunately) married waitress bringing me steak and beer...
7) ...Then the Viaduct du Millau...
8) ...Then recieved telephone call that said "SWMBO" had "gone to Greece..."
9) ..Soooo... turned left instead of right...and ended up in Perigeaux region.
10) ..Ate Foie Gras, an Uncle Bens Rice meal in a bag and a very nice bottle of Red..in the tent in a 14 hour thunderstorm...
11)...North to see "Big Sis" in Limoges..
12) Then back home...9 hours in another storm...Shot the brakes and shot the tires...but it was a hell of a ride...

Listen here Franco MATEY!...The nights are getting shorter..Theres a chill in the air already! What I dont need is more ideas of where to go...Ive already plotted the route in my head!

..Donc...Arretez...Maintenant SVP..

(Yeah...Jealous as hell...Keep it up...:bounce1)

You came into MY village? When? Why didn't ye say hello? I coulda fixed you up with the waitress ha ha....
Good to hear you had a grand time, apart from the storms, it's still baking here.:augie

Rob :D
