Hi, anyone doe the Col de la Moutiere, near Bonette. I'm going down there in July and noticed it on the map. I was thinking of going over Bonette heading south and then looping back up the valley minor road and up to La Moutiere. Can't find much on t'web, apart from a few pics showing a narrow partially rough surfaced road. Any thoughts? I'll be on an F800GS on road tyres.

It is on my list to do having seen it from Bonette a couple of times. It looks like a really nice gravel track if that is what you are looking for. Should be doable on an F800GS.

Bumped into a german couple on the Bonnette two year ago. They were explaining that we were at the highest point you can get to on a bike in europe
I showd um my GPS display of about 4 hrs earlier waypointed at about 10000ft =
Theres the famous Someller trail near bardonechia gravelled to the old refuge station doable with care and good weather on almost any bike :thumb2

Another good link on one of the 4x4 sites here. Has waypoint markers and GPS coordinates. All in French, but google should help you out, guy has already done some english translations, probably with google too by the looks of things :D

thansk Franco, mind made up, I'll have a ride up Moutiere. Planning on doing a few Alpine passes in early July. Going to do the glacier road at Solden in Austria - (highest paved road in Europe?), then Stelvio, over to Bardonecchia for the Stella Alpina, then back into France to do Iseran, Agnel and Bonette, then down to Nice for a couple of days. I'll either have had enough of alpine passes by then or I'll be wanting to live there!

Iseran, Agnel, and Bonette? Well, if yer gonna do three Cols, might as well do the three highest..:D Take yer camera...
