Does anyone with reasonably up to date info know if the D69 road that runs north –south through Col de la Vaccia between Aullene and Zicavo is sealed tarmac or washed out dirt road? It is marked on the Michelin 345 map (map section D8) as a dangerous road. Most of the searches I`ve done on the web give mixed feedback as to whether it`s as dangerous as made out.
I`m currently in Porto Corsica and was due to run through that stretch of the D69 road in a couple days (on the 7th July) a route I`d originally planned through the centre of Corsica en-route to Bastia from Propriano, via Col de St. Eustache to Col de la Vaccia, then continuing North along the D69 to Col de Verde, then up the N193 to Ponte Veccia before swinging right up to Bigorno, Murato towards St.Florent, Col de Teghime & Bastia

Thank you for the reply sir, the internet connection at the hotel here is somwhat poor, and doesn`t enjoy running street view or other higher bandwidth applications. So I`m unable to use it till the tourists have fallen asleep & stopped checking their emails & farcebook status, & it would be a shame to bypass Col de St. Eustache en-route north

It's OK, say a car and a half wide, worn Tarmac, typical litte used mountain pass, cows, goats, sheep, the usual stuff.

I finally managed to get onto streetview late last night & confirmed that Vaccia is ok ish, well for a corsican road that is. It doesn`t seem as bad as the D81B coast road that I rode for 50 miles from Calvi down to Porto, as that rattled the fillings in my teeth due to the potholes having been filled in with piles of tarmac that hadn`t been levelled. but the potholes where no more that 1ft apart.
