Collected my VFR800 this morning

Bought this off e bay last week, probably not best time to sell - week before xmas +snow so it was only £1200

23k miles, long tax and mot, new rear tyre, spare set of panels and baglux tank bag, sports can +standard

seems a good deal - guy had owned it for 5 years so was happy.

always wanted to try an 800 - did have an early 750 but it seemed a bit gutless mid range compared to the R100RT I was using at the time.

this seems really pokey low down and the riding postion is dead right.

looking forward to better weather to open it up a bit

had a T reg for a few years took it to Marrakesh my first trip abroad ,,,great bike very reliable only let down by the rectifier if you come across a cheap one buy it if you keep the bike for long enough you will need it ,,,i think it is because the rectifier is mounted on the rear sub frame and the rear cylinders transfer heat straight to it i have heard of people fitting a heat sink between the two ,,,,,,enjoy its a great bike

yes, been told main faults are regulator and pcb board on speedo.

seems like R1 reg. is the way to go although mine already has a modified new one

i have one of these also,amazin machine,keep a eye on the down pipes,they rot badly,replace with stainless steel.they stick to the road on b/stone o20's.

Did many many miles on a VFR800FIx, utterly brilliant bike. Jewel of an engine, possibly one of the best ever fitted into a bike. Check head bearings, they may not be worn but can get pocketed in hard grease, and rear shocks, usually past best about 12-16000 miles. Reg-rec is a well known peoblem but David Silver spares will sort you out there.

I still have a huge soft spot for these bikes, one of the best I've ever owned. Honda VFR Club site is a mine of information, excellent site run by excellent people.
