Collected new GS today

I was thinking in terms of the owners manual, tools etc. as opposed to freebies.

I was thinking in terms of the owners manual, tools etc.

Owners handbook / service record in a clear plastic wallet which is sized so that you can insert it under the rear of the fuel tank cover. Two keys + a plastic valet key. I also got a little black plastic tag that does I know not what. Tool kit should be in the plastic wallet in the tool tray under the seat and from memory - I haven't looked at the new one - has a reversible screwdriver, a 14mm spanner and the tool for removing the oil filler cap.

Nice bike - I also like the colour :-)

I collected my GSA from Wollastons on a Thursday back in June. Rode it home, packed the panniers and rode it to France next day for a long weekend. A week's commuting then first service the following Friday, then off to do the National Rally next day. Nicely run-in by the end of all that.

Now 3 months down the line, I have a little over 5000 miles on the clock and loving the thing more each time I ride it :-)

Well thats the first 500mls covered on the Lupin Blue 1200gs.

Story so far, rides great - engine / gearbox / clutch are all spot on feels so relaxing to ride, the handling is so easy to get on with - i'd read the front suspension doesn't give as much feel (clearly rollocks!, the front end give so much confidence and the lean angles are coming along nicely :-) Its much more stable in strong winds and open roads than my previous bike too.

Had a slight tingling through the fingers and toes on the rightside, reckon that'll settle down once its down a few thousand and i'm more relaxed too.

I need to fiddle with the screen angle perhaps, wind pressure seems to hit the top part of my helmet (where the vent opening is), and there's a fair amount of noise getting up in the helmet, i guess otherwsie it'll be a screen swop for an adventure type screen for best results?

We've picked up a small amount of damage, scuffed hand guard and mirror - long story which involved a dry stone wall and 90 year old lady who clearly couldn't drive her renualt clio - or rather wasn't able to control the clutch and stop herself rolling back - arrrghhhhh! oh well, not to worry, could've been much much worse all told.

Looks like work will prevent the service getting done o Friday this week, so i'll have to eek out the remaining 150mls before it hits the 650mls max - hmmm not so good planning after all.

All in found the bike so easy to rewarding to ride, just need to hone my handling at near stop speed (last bike weighed much less), and master the Garmin Zumo 660 (clearly a more frustrating piece of kit altogether!!)

Oh final thing, crappy weather i the lake district sunday and today..... rode up in great weather Saturday and return in great weather too - different climate up there it seems :-) but loved the roads all the same - off to wash the bike and get a pizza.

Big day tomorrow

Looked at the pretty blue bike.......
