Can any of the collective tell me if when you buy a new beak and top tank panel they are pre painted? fancy changing to white so thought i could just buy new plastics and bolt on,and anyone know how much they are? Yes i know i could ring the dealer but hey why have a dog etc,oh and no f@@k@@g swearing.............I Thank you

My dealer suggested this option when I chose the colour of my GSA last month. But I haven't done it, so I can't give you details. I bought panels for a VFR once and they come ready-sprayed - it seems like a standard industry practice to me.

bodywork panels

I removed the panels from my bike and had mine sprayed by my local car body work shop all in £150 any colour you like as well.

I wanted to change the color of my bike and I just replaced everything with carbon fiber. I love the look of carbon, especially just clear coated so the weave is visable.

Good luck with your color change.....I hope you come up with something unique.

I had considered doing this...I assume you mean with the Ilmberger/Wunderlich items?..

....but I wondered what the fit would be like...after-market panels tend not to be as 'precise' as oe stuff.

How do you find the fit, and finish?

Thanks for the replies fellas, carbon is a good idea didnt give that a thought, but iv always liked the 06 white jobbie, but when i was at the stealers having the recals done i checked out the anniversary models and they looked cool in the alpine white,so i got thinking later whether i could just buy the plastics and get Humvee to makeup some similar graphics in the red and blue..............:Motomartin

Go and see Boys Toys in Rayleigh.

They will sort you out on the painting and probably do the graphics as well. BuMW will sell you the graphics (I guess).

Please go to ADVENTURE RIDER WEBSITE www.advrider.com

Go to the "GSpot" section on GS BMWs

Go to the thread that I just started;

"Sub 400 pound BMW R1200 GS ???" On page 2 of this thread are a handful of my custom BMW R1200GS Carbon Fiber and Titanium full make over.

I think that you will be surprised how nice exotic materials can make a GS look beautifully functional.....:)

Id start a thread here but Im not to good at getting pictures posted. Another ADVRider member helped me post the pics.

Sincerely

Doug aka daotoys1

P.S........the project bike was/is quite an extensive remodel of a Non-ABS BMW R1200GS set up for what I call "Sport-Touring".

I do all of my riding in the high mountain canyons of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This BMW was designed for this application.

I use to be a racer in my youth.....now that Im an old guy I have traded the track for the paved canyons. I still ride like I race...but smart and safe.....

enjoy

Job's as good as done. :thumb2

Get a look at the owner's RC30 while you are there.

Foliage

I hope that I use the right word for that: why don't you apply foliage to the bike? If you need assistance, take a look at that

http://gs-forum.eu/showthread.php?t=31484

There is a biker from Australia, who did it very well. My spouse also turned her 1200GS into black by using that foliage. It is very inexpensive (6-15 Euros per square meter, as far as I remember), easy to apply and to remove and won't do any damage to your bike. And you may also get it in a carbon-style.

One positive side-effect is that once you get bored by the colour, it takes you only a few bucks and a bit of time to completely change your bike's look.
