Colour Change

I hope that I use the right word for that: why don't you apply foliage to the bike? If you need assistance, take a look at that

http://gs-forum.eu/showthread.php?t=31484

There is a biker from Australia, who did it very well. My spouse also turned her 1200GS into black by using that foliage. It is very inexpensive (6-15 Euros per square meter, as far as I remember), easy to apply and to remove and won't do any damage to your bike. And you may also get it in a carbon-style.

One positive side-effect is that once you get bored by the colour, it takes you only a few bucks and a bit of time to completely change your bike's look.

if you want to buy that stuff in the u.k. i am pretty sure that there will be a supplier, too. just look for the foliage that is used for cars in order to protect the varnish.

this is the homepage of our german buddy in australia, and there everything is in ENGLISH!

He has a complete course on his homepage ("how-to..."). And you can get a first impression, when you select bmw-diary on the left hand menu.

Been errring about slapping some vinyl on mine for a while... I have a boring grey bike and would like to liven it up a bit....

How difficult is this vinyl to apply ???.. Back in me youth I used to use something called solafilm for covering model aircraft.. that had an adhesive backing that would stick when ironed on to the balsa wood, and then you'd apply a bit of heat with an air gun in order to shrink and tension the surface... It was quite easy to use on simple slab, but around compound curves it wasn't that easy... How many times did I end up warping a wing through too much heat !:blast:blast

I know image isn't everything, but I think I'd rather splash a bit of cash on my bike that way, rather than spending thousands of pounds on luggage and twat suits to get the McBoorman look....

Hi C-J,
I'd say it's not that difficult to apply the vinyl. But it takes definitely patience and time when you haven't done it before.

I put the first piece of vinyl on at the beginning of 2009. It's not as easy as you model plan thing, specially when there are bends and curves you gotta stretch the vinyl a lot.

the most important thing you need is patience :D that's all i can say. some of the guys trying this gave up... just dont think you can wrapp the whole bike in a day... I got mine to this state over months... one bit at a time.

feel free to check out my BMW diary (on the left of the page), there are heaps of photos what I have done to my GS.

The biggest advantage of this type of styling is that you can just rip it off when you get sick of it... you can still sell the bike in its original state!

Take care.

I was interested in fitting a GSA tank.
Pinkytiff is selling one.

In pricing GSA panels for a 2008 it was coming out at £520 for primed panels.

Looking at getting my tank panel and beak on me GSA done in this stuff:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ul5anz8l0gc?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ul5anz8l0gc?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Summat different I suppose...:drool

This was the initial plan, but the import costs were ridiculous:

It works well on car bonnets in the rain, the engine heat warms it to change, then the rain cools it down into spots.
