I've always loved the colour of the 'original' 1200GS Adventure, what would I need to do to change my bike from this

Could I just respray the beak and top of tank or is the beak simply white plastic and so I'd need a new beak? I assume I could respray the tank sides?
Any idea what costs are involved and how much it would affect resale value?
Would it be cheaper to re-cover the seats or just buy new ones?
Thanks in advance :thumb2

Take the panels off and get them sprayed professionally. Simple job and should be done for £200 max. It's worth the money to get it done properly as spraying plastic needs careful prep:thumb

I won't affect the resale value one penny in my opinion although I'm sure someone will come along and tell you otherwise:augie.

Or......you could get Paddy Dakar to vinyl wrap it:thumb

Recovering the seat would be cheaper than a new one.

I've heard of vinyl wrapping but never seen an example. What does it look like close up?

In my experience, commercial Vinyl Wrappers are not interested in "wrapping" motorcycles because there's not enough "markup" in it for them. it's also ridiculously expensive for what it is.

It's just a fad, and it'll fade in time.

Better to get it professionally resprayed (and tell the DVLC).

Snerrrrrklerrrrr ......

Long time no post!!! How are you .... :)

.

No it won't. Check out all the RAC vans and see how much they have faded. The advantage of wrapping is you can peel it off to leave perfect factory paint underneath

I was in Alan Jefferies this week and spoke to them about it.

They quoted me about £380 for replacement white parts (30th Annv/SE) or £280 for re-spraying. I'm sure you could get cheaper. Still thinking about it.

Very well thanks, yourself?
Been very busy as bought out a clinic and so not been biking much :(
Still loving the GSA though when I do manage the time to get out on it :thumb2

Ahhhhh - the old special clinic??

Never had to go there myself ....

Keep well. :thumb

Here's a thought........

Replacement panels are only about £265
I looked into this last year
Was going to get a yellow one and put the red panels off the 2008 model on it so I had originals for next sale

Ended up getting a 30th annivarsary as that was same colour as my first one so didnt go thru with it

When you say panels is that just the side panels of the tank?

2 plastic panels to paint; beak and tank cover, as has been already said any good car or bike painter should be able to do these for under £200 for you, the tank panels near your knees are metal and anodised finish, they can be painted-with proper preparation or you might get lucky and do a swap with a fellow GSer or pick up a pair used from e-blag.......
I can sort out the decals for you :thumb2
As for the seat/s again, you might get lucky and pick up some used ones or get the originals re-covered, I had my seats re-covered by Tony Archer after hearing of his excellent work from fellow tossers http://www.tonyarcher.co.uk/

My 09 bike was grey, I had it painted White and the seats recovered within weeks of getting it.

Thanks for the advice. Do you mind me asking how much it cost to recover the seats?

Both seats recovered (material he used appears identical to the original) and Gel pads to the riders seat was £120 I think.....
I think Tony is a 1 man band and can be difficult to get hold of, if he's busy you have to be persistant to get him to answer the phone-worth it though in my opinion, I mailed him my seats and they were back with me inside a week :thumb2
