Hi all,
has anybody got a BMW comfort seat on an RT ?. i am thinking of getting one so.
Is it any lower than standard ?.
Is it more comfortable than standard ?.
many thanks.

Just sold my R1100RT which had a comfort seat - thoroughly recommended! Don't know if it's higher or lower than stock but, since the seat has 3 positions anyway, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. My leg is 31", and I used the seat on the middle position. The seat is generally far more supportive than standard, and long days in the saddle were no problem.

Strangely I find the stock seat better but my wife loves the comfort seat so it looks like its staying on the bike! It is supposed to be a little lower but being wider there is no gain for any riders with shorter legs.

I am out of the country until the end of the month but once I return if you want to pop over and swap seats so you can try one before you buy feel free, I am near Beverley.

Hi llotse, that sounds like a good idea, thanks.

If you wanted to compare I have a Sargent Seat fitted (just the front seat) and it is fantastic - very comfy. It is a little higher than the std seat due to support and width but I used to ride with the stock seat on high setting anf with the Sargent on low setting it is perfect.

Not far away if you wanted to compare.

Regards
Rik

the comfort seat is lower if you measure from floor to ground but as its wider it feels, to my mind at least, as high as standard. There are two issues : its much more comfortable for your arse as its well "comfier" but if you have long legs which I don't, as your arse is closer to your heels it may be a bit cramped compared to the standard. I love it though but I am 5ft 7in.

Thanks awfully, but if its higher its not for me. I`m trying to reduce height if possible without going down to low seat.

My 2011 RT came with the BMW low seat. I swapped it earlier this year for a comfort seat, bought by a nice guy from this parish. It's much more comfortable for long rides and I've not noticed any difference in the "feet down" factor. I'd happily recommend it.

Recently sold a Sargent seat and found that the low setting with the Sargent was the same as the high setting with the standard bmw seat.
It was comfier than the bmw seat but for me at 5'11" it still felt like i needed to be sat further back to get my backside on the wider part of the seat which then made me feel like i was reaching/crouching too far so probably going to be way off if you are vertically challenged.

Hi llotse,
Are you back in this country yet ?. can we set up a meet to have a look at your bikes seat please.:thumb2

Yes been back a couple of days but maybe going to Lome tomorrow, not confirmed so I will post once I know. The seat is heated so it shouldn't feel too cold! Will send you a PM with my number.

I found the comfort seat pushed me too far forwards and locked me into one position. I much prefer the stock seat :thumb
