If your bike is the same as my old one there a spare GPS connector under the beak at the front of the bike. It's ignition live but stays live for 20-30 seconds after the bike is switched off, then goes off. Try this fred to start with
Must look for that. I have it wired to the white connector under front of the tank. Everything is cable tied down so I’ll leave it alone but I read somewhere that if there is too much current draw it will not allow bike to switch off the feed. I don’t know! With the switch the dash cam/car play unit works when I want it. I’ll have a look for the one I’m under the beak though. The inline switch is fine! The car play, I’d have to switch off WiFi and blue tooth. Make sure the maps and music app on phone was off etc and the sit and watch the bike until it switched off

When you get the new headlight and take the old one off don’t forget to hang onto the rubber dampers where various bits of the old light unit fit into lugs etc on the frame, you’ll need these in the new light unit as they don’t come supplied.
You may also find that for the first couple of times you ride it with the new light unit the FLAMP warning might display. It did on mine but then went after a couple of rides, presumably the Canbus got used to it.

Have had the Chinese headlight fitted for a few years now and very pleased with it.
But!!! Best to fit a Perspex stone guard as they they have a thin plastic lens cover not glass , I have already had one cover cracked but cheaper than a headlight.
I made 3 covers from £8 worth of Perspex sheet from ebay.

Thanks for the tip top tips lads. I got my very nicely made level adjuster from mr eel today, I’m hoping to have the headlight unit in a couple of days.
The Perspex cover, will my my chicken wire protector work or would I be best with a Perspex as well?
This is what I have ..will investigate more- might just cable tie some Perspex to the back of this one. Good tip thanks

I would think your chicken mesh would stop most stones.
I cut Perspex with a 1mm slitting disc in an angle grinder, Klingspor have always been my go to discs.

I had the BMW headlight protector on my OEM headlight. The new Chinese one comes with the holes in the front cover to just fit this easily. .
It had little spigots that go into the rubber grommets so is easy to remove to clean behind it.
