Comfy seat for my GSA / butt

Not perfect, but after changing from the standard seat on my 09 adventure for a Sargent, I did at least stop thinking about how num my bum was.

I tried gel inserts which didn't help.

Apparently a common misconception is that gell (inserts) is a magical cure for monkey butt and it is the be all and end all of comfort. All gell does is stop vibration coming through more effectively and has little to do with adding extra comfort. The good aftermarket companies (Sargent, Corbin etc) don't use gell, do they ? I had my VFR Vtec saddle redone with gell inserts and didn't find any real difference and my mate and his misses had their F650GS seats gelled as they were doing the Pan American highway. They too weren't impressed and wished they'd got AirHawaks or aftermarket seats instead. The shape of a seat also plays an important part in the equation.

As above, had gel in the ZZR seat, it cost a lot and I don't think it helped that much.

This time around I just asked TA to add a bit more foam / use "better" foam or whatever, he told me about the lack of any foam towards back of stock seat and said he would do a plush pair of saddles for me - and I reckon it is much better than having gel (which is quite hard stuff)

Maybe gel works better for the bigger lads who can crush any foam known to man, but for my bony arse more foam gets the vote.

I can vouch for Tony Archer, his workmanship is excellent. He did a gel insert on my Sprint ST. I went up one Saturday and waited whilst he did it. One Mcdonalds Sausage and egg McMuffin later and it was done. He uses medical quality gel inserts (the stuff they use in wheelchairs). Only problem is that on really hot days the top seat cover started to "creep". Think this was down to the sun and the underseat cans.

I might just pop to a recommended plastic surgeon and get some left over fat inserted into my arse. A comfy ride on any bike, anywhere for any amount of time.
