I rolled into the centre of Memphis and fell in love with the place straight away. Thousands of people milling around with blues music coming from a dozen different bars from each street I rode down.
The smell of BBQ food filling the air and Neon lights inviting you in to sample their unique blends of beers and grub.
I pulled over in front of a live music stage with a blues band giving it big licks.
It took a good 40 mins of ringing steadily more expensive hotels before I decided on treating myself to the Marriott that had a 24 hour guard on the car park which gave me piece of mind after the earlier events of the day.
$140 dollars but another $20 for local taxes.
After a quick shower I headed for Beale street and BB Kings Blues bar on a recommend from ATT.
Beale street is outrageous! Every 30 feet there is a different bar with a different style of Blues ( all Live) and every type of food you can think of. Still stuffed from my hearty lunch I decide on a rack of ribs and a pitcher of Sam Adams for a starter to the evening.
The rest of the evening is a bit hazy as the beers kept coming in frosted huge glasses and everyone was so welcoming. Especially the young filly who insisted on seeing my ID. before she would serve me

Bless her poorly eyes.
I ended up in a bar a few blocks from Beale street called Hueys where the beer was half the price I had been paying and the band fantastic. I ended up drinking with them until about 2am after they finished their set.
Cracking night and a must to go back there.
